As you may have heard, New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop V. Gene Robinson tied the (civil) knot with his partner of 20 years, Mark Andrew. The civil union ceremony was held in the narthex of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Concord, N.H., and a religious “thanksgiving” service followed in the sanctuary.

Of the 120 or so guests, a number were notable gay rights advocates in the Episcopal Church, according to Robinson’s spokesman, Mike Barwell, including Louie Crew and his partner Ernest.

Robinson wore a tux with some funny, multi-colored shoes, said Barwell, which had rainbows and happy faces and musical notes on them.

The Rev. Susan Russell, president of Integrity USA, which advocates full inclusion for LGBT Episcopalians, gave the sermon, which drew on e.e. cummings poem “i thank you God for this most amazing,” and which you can find on her blog here.
