Outgoing Southern Baptist Convention President Frank Page was traditionally at the podium microphone during most of the denomination’s annual meeting, which ended its two-day run on Wednesday in Indianapolis. But at one surprising moment during the meeting on Tuesday he picked up a different mike to pay tribute to a friend. Page sang a solo at the start of the song “In Christ Alone” to remember Forrest Pollock, pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Fla., who was killed in May with his son in a plane crash. Page joined the choir from his Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C. for the tribute.
