It’s not just a question of how to address head-on the charge of being a Muslim, but also whether Obama might indirectly take actions to reassure voters that he’s not sympathetic to Islamist terrorism or anti-Israel. For ex, just last week Obama shocked many of us by his reversal on FISA and telcom immunity when he came out in support of a House bill. What could have prompted this?
    Obama says:
“…given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay. So I support the compromise, but do so with a firm pledge that as President…”
Does he really now believe this or is he reacting b/c he has something to prove, to correct a false perception of him? He needs to exercise caution in going too far w/the sacrificing of liberties for national security talk, lest he lose his “change” base support and alienate his libertarian crossover support as well.
