Megachurches-known for their big buildings, schools and crowds-are continuing to grow but there are shifts in the way they are expanding, a new study shows. “The general growth pattern is that about 90 percent of megachurches report that they are growing and many of them at very fast rates,” said Warren Bird, a researcher at Leadership Network, a Dallas-based think tank, and co-author of the study released Friday (Sept. 12). But megachurches are expanding to satellite campuses and are shifting their training emphasis by running fewer schools and more pastors’ conferences.
