The Wall Street Journal had a piece on Saturday about a Muslim scholar who believes Prophet Muhammad never existed.

Money quote: “We had no idea he would have ideas like this,” says Thomas Bauer, a fellow academic at Münster University who sat on a committee that appointed Prof. Kalisch. “I’m a more orthodox Muslim than he is, and I’m not a Muslim.”

I can’t help but recall of the religious upheavals that began in Germany, from Luther’s theses to the 19th century scholars who began the historical criticism of the Bible. Will this mark the beginning of the Muslim Reformation?
