Steve Waldman at Beliefnet has done the dirty work drudging up all inaugural prayers back to 1937 (with historical research help from atheist Michael Newdow). Waldman also notes in a separate post that for all the talk about the diversity of ministers Obama chose to offer prayers at the upcoming ceremonies, there’s nary a Catholic or Jew among them, not to mention no Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, pagan, etcâÂ?¦

Someone whose seen the “script” for the interfaith National Prayer Service told me that it’s really interfaith though, so maybe they figured they got it covered.
