For those that didn’t see Bishop V. Gene Robinson’s invocation yesterday at the Lincoln Memorial concert, which is nearly everybody, since HBO decided not to broadcast it, Christianity Today’s Sarah Pulliam was there and taped it. See more discussion why the prayer wasn’t on TV over at Episcopal Cafe. Not surprisingly, HBO says they’re not to blame, since the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the invocation part of the “pre-show” rather than the concert itself. “We had always intended and planned for Rt. Rev. Robinson’s invocation to be included in the televised portion of yesterday’s program. We regret the error in executing this plan – but are gratified that hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on the mall heard his eloquent prayer for our nation that was a fitting start to our event,” emails PIC communications director Josh Earnest.”
