Jim Naughton, director of communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, tell us that the first family had a brief chat with their new neighbors, Bishop Chane and the Very Rev. Lloyd, dean of the National Cathdral.

From Jim: “Chane said that during the ten-minute meeting, the group spoke mostly of the hectic schedule the Obamas were keeping, and how the couple’s children are adjusting to the move.

Bishop Chane asked the president if he was tired after yesterday’s festivities. The President said no, that he was having a good time. The Bishop said the Obamas are an unpretentious couple.

`It was like meeting your neighbors across the back fence,” Chane said. `That’s just how they carry themselves.”’
