A Findlay, Ohio, teen is getting lots of attention for choosing to break the rules of his Christian school and attend his girlfriend’s public-school prom last weekend. The Courier in Findlay has been reporting on Tyler Frost’s decision, which led to his suspension from Heritage Christian School.

“I think the punishment is a little overboard,” the newspaper said he told WTOL-TV. “But I guess I’m ready to face the punishment now.”

Frost was punished because his school forbids dancing and hand holding. The principal, Tim England, has said Frost can’t attend graduation but will receive his diploma when he completes his final exams.

In a statement on the school’s Web site, he defended its stand, saying students sign a statement each year that they will cooperate with the school’s rules.

“What kind of a school would we be if we suspended a policy because it was convenient to do so?” England said. “That would not be a Christ-like response.”
