Habitat for Humanity, the Atlanta-based Christian organization that builds affordable housing with and for people around the world, has announced that it has received the largest donation from an individual in its history – $100 million.

The commitment from J. Ronald Terwilliger, the chair of Habitat’s board, will help 60,000 people gain a new place to live.

“There are more than 1.6 billion people around the world who live in poverty housing and they need our help,” said Terwilliger, also chair of the Trammell Crow Residential development company, in the announcement.
