Christian blogger Chad Estes wonders how Jesus would evangelize on college campuses. Apparently, megaphones are out:

“I watched a ten minute video today titled ‘Caring for the Lost Students of Vanderbilt University.’

It was the day of a big football game and all the frat houses on campus there in Nashville were having game-day parties. Two Christians showed up looking for a place to ‘share the Gospel.’ I’m not sure how they would call what they did as sharing good news, but I don’t typically consider driving around the neighborhood yelling at the kids with a megaphone from their car that they are immodest and drunkards is really the best way to reach, let alone convert college students.”

Joanna Brooks of Religious Dispatches asks “Is Mitt Romney Mormon Enough?”

“Earlier this week, Florida evangelical Christian leader John Stemberger endorsed Rick Perry’s campaign for GOP presidential nominee. According to Stemberger, Perry was more ‘trustworthy’ on social conservation issues like abortion rights.

On Romney, Stemberger said: ‘The issue not that he is a Mormon. The issue is that he wasn’t Mormon enough. If he had been consistent with traditional Mormon values his whole career, that would make me feel a lot more comfortable about where he’s coming from.’

Mitt Romney. Not Mormon enough. Yeah. Right.”

Speaking of Mormons, Michael Otterson of the Washington Post’s On Faith blog explains how Mormons interpret scripture:

“In the 181 years since it was first published, the Book of Mormon has been praised and parodied, vaunted and vilified. To some it is an enigma. To others heresy. To those who have embraced it, it is a powerful, life-changing force — literally new scripture – that brings people to Jesus Christ.

During this time of unusually high public interest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this column provides a forum for explaining key elements of the faith. My objective is not to persuade others to my point of view. Rather, it’s to explain simply and factually some of the basics of the Latter-day Saint perspective for those outside the faith who know little about Mormon beliefs and want to know what makes us tick.”

Liao Yiwu, author of God is Red, has a piece over at Huffington Post Religion about how/why Christianity is flourishing in China:

“‘Every inch of soil beneath my feet was red, glittering under the frail winter sun, as if it had been soaked with blood.’

I jotted down this observation in my journal in the winter of 2005 while trekking on a narrow mountain path in China’s southwestern province of Yunnan.

l had met a Christian, known among local villagers as Dr. Sun, a medical doctor. Following his conversion, he quit his position as the dean of a large medical school near Shanghai and came to the rural areas of Yunnan, healing the sick and spreading the gospel. After learning that I was writing a book about Christianity, he promised to take me to the mountainous villages, where he said I could discover extraordinary stories.'”

And instead of a Tweet of the Day (again), here’s an old video that the folks over at Jesus Needs New PR found entitled “How to be a Real Man.” Looks like God wasn’t a fan of Green Day back in 90s, and really, REALLY didn’t like smoking (WARNING: extremely fake-looking punching ahead):
