So some of you asked yesterday if we here at RNS “forgot” about Rosh Hashanah

Oh ye of little faith.

The twitterverse certainly didn’t forget, what with President Obama tweeting well-wishes to all his Jewish followers. Not to be left out, Republican Presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Herman Cain also extended new year greetings. Looks like Christian megapastor Rick Warren got in on the action as well (with transliterated Hebrew), as did the Pope.


Yonah Bookstein over at the Washington Post even has his own Rosh Hashanah etiquette guide, complete with ram horn (shofar) explanations.

And for the culinarily inclined, there are ample amounts of Rosh Hashanah recipes at the Washington Post, La Times, and Huffington Post. Heck, recipe website Epicurious even has a whole guide dedicated to High Holiday cooking.

Meanwhile, the Christian Century has a review of Left Behind and Loving It, a new book that rides the “What if the Apocalypse came?” gravy train but introduces a new angle: humor. Who knew the end of the world could be so funny?

The National Catholic Register asks, “is it wrong for Christians to own mansions?”

The Denver Post looks at the new “I’m a Mormon” campaign as it travels to Denver and other cities around the U.S. The campaign reportedly seeks to help explain mormonism by putting a human face on the church.

Christian blog Church Mag examines the implications that the newly announced “Facebook Timeline” could have for ministry.
