August 2012 – The gravesite of Father Damien, a Roman Catholic priest who became a saint in 2009. He spent 16 years ministering on Kaulapapa. He caught leprosy and died in 1889. His remains were exhumed and returned to his native Belgium in 1936. A relic was later returned to his original gravesite. It is a very popular destination for pilgrims.
