    It’s a stretch to say that shaking hands is “essential” to a Jewish prayer service. It’s a common custom at most. That’s why the OU saw no need to issue any guidelines, it’s not a religious issue. It’s a commonsense issue. Don’t shake hands if you don’t need to if the flu is going around.
