Roma Downey and Mark Burnett headline the 20th  Catholics in Media Associates (CIMA) film and television awards ceremony on Sunday, April 14th which honors the History Channel mini-series The Bible, the film Flight and the 20th Century Fox Television series Bones at the Bel-Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades, CA.  CIMA President Nancy Norton Bevins and CIMA VP John Kelly will executive produce the event. The 2013 CIMA Awards Honorary Chairpersons are past CIMA President Jane Abbott and her husband Thomas Abbott.

The 2013 CIMA Board of Directors Award will be presented by CIMA board member Sr. Rose Pacatte, FSP to Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, executive producers of the History Channel mini-series The Bible. The project was conceived by the husband and wife team after watching Cecil B. DeMille‘s version of The Ten Commandments for the first time since childhood.

The Bible’s Downey and Burnett commented: “We are honored to receive the 2013 CIMA Board of Directors Award for our mini-series ‘The Bible.’ We created this series to honor God and we hope it brings millions of people closer to His Word.”


The 2013 CIMA Motion Picture Award will be presented by Flight actor Ron Caldwell to Jack Rapke, producer of Flight, directed and co-produced by Robert Zemeckis and starring Denzel Washington as a high-functioning alcoholic who lands a malfunctioning jet with minimal loss of life and injuries.

The 2013 CIMA TV Award will be presented to Stephen Nathan executive producer of the 20th Century Fox Television series Bones.  The TV series follows Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) as she works with FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and her forensic team to solve mysteries surrounding human remains.
