(RNS) Pope Francis will remain in Rome this summer, unlike his predecessor, Benedict XVI, who used to spend three months at Castel Gandolfo, the papal retreat.

    Ha ha, the Vatican’s conspiring arch-conservatives have convinced him to do this in the hope that Rome’s miserable summer weather will kill him off, or at least make him an invalid under their control.
