By what standard of morality do many of these Republicans count themselves as followers of Christ, when they violate the very literal ethical teachings of Christ that compels us to care for the “Least of These”?

Let them also open their Qurans and Books of Mormon:

“Have you seen him who denies the religion? He is the one who harshly rebuffs the orphan and does not urge the feeding of the poor. So woe to those who do prayer, and are forgetful of their prayer, those who show off and deny help to others.” –Surat al-Ma’un: 1-7

“And also, ye yourselves will asuccor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish.
Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand, and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart unto him of my substance that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just—

But I say unto you, O man, whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent; and except he repenteth of that which he hath done he perisheth forever, and hath no interest in the kingdom of God.

For behold, are we not all abeggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?” — Mosiah 4:16-19

Meh! Nowhere does it say that more government is the answer to fixing societal problems. Feeding the poor is supposed to be a “getting your hands dirty” mission for the Christian. Not to let a secular government misspend tax dollars wastefully.

And as long as we’re quoting from the Quran, let’s quote this part as well:

“We also sent Lut : He said to his people : “Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” (Qur’an 7:80-81)

Feeding the poor is approved in the Quran, but gay marriage is NOT approved. Period.
