Nashville, TN:October 4, 2013 –In theaters for only two weeknights (Sept 24th and Oct 3th), UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Event with Kirk Cameron sold more than 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. In just two nights this independent project sent a loud message – audiences want thought-provoking and meaningful entertainment.   For the most recent performance, on Thursday October 3rd, the film was the overall No.3 in box office, with only one showing in most theaters.

More than 150,000 tickets were sold to the event on Sept. 24 in more than 700 select movie theaters across the country through NCM Fathom Events. An impressive 102,000 tickets were sold to the second showing of “UNSTOPPABLE” on Oct. 3 in nearly 670 theaters.

Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?”

Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

UNSTOPPABLE faced initial resistance when two popular social media sites initially blocked the trailer, labeling it as “unsafe” and “abusive.” Cameron’s supporters immediately rallied online support and the incidents were resolved.

“The UNSTOPPABLE title has broken all Fathom Events records – drawing a record crowd for not only the first event, but also the second showing last night,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president for NCM Fathom Events. “Kirk Cameron and Provident Films certainly know how to engage their audiences and offer relevant, timely and must-see content. We’re proud to partner with them on this very successful title and look forward to bringing more events like UNSTOPPABLE to theaters across the Fathom network.”

Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as “Mike Seaver,” on Growing Pains. More recently he enjoyed much success with his recent documentary, Monumental. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are provided an all-expense paid retreat (www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and Chelsea live in California with their six children.
