(New York, NY)  October 11, 2013 – Directed by Academy Award winning Roger Ross Williams, the new documentary GOD LOVES UGANDA explores the Evangelical campaign to alter African cultural values. The film is the result of 3 years spent exploring the rise of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda, and the filmmaker’s ultimate conclusion that a group of fringe Evangelicals played a vital role in the fueling of what turned into a deadly brand of hate.

While the Anti-Homosexuality Bill lays dormant in Ugandan Parliament, the fight for equality ranges on. The film highlights the work of Bishop Christopher Senyonjo, a Ugandan priest who is outcast from the church for his support of LGBT persons. He will travel to NYC this week to be on hand for the film’s NYC premiere.

The film’s theatrical run in NYC will also feature appearances by Dr Frank Mugisha, the Reverend JC Austin and the film’s Director, Roger Ross Williams. Williams is the product of the southern Baptist tradition and spent his childhood singing in the church choir.
