Ministers Without Pulpits – For more and more would-be pastors, the combination of economic recession and mainline decline has severely reduced their chances of finding paid, full-time jobs as pastors. Lucky Severson reports that seminary and divinity school graduates are going into other kinds of service, or taking any job available while they wait and pray for the work they feel called by God to do.
The December Project – For two years, every Friday, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, a founder of the Jewish Renewal Movement, talked with writer Sara Davidson, a secular skeptic, about preparing to die. As Bob Faw reports, accepting one’s intuition about an afterlife, creating what the Rabbi calls inner space in which the divine can be experienced – all this is recounted in Davidson’s new book, The December Project, named for what the Rabbi calls his own preparations, complete with song and dance.
