The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) removed God from the graduation invocation this year, but God is back. Washington lawyer, former atheist and MIT alumnus Doug Ell (’71) will up-end the widely-promoted belief that scientific advancement disproves the existence of God:

Wednesday, June 11, 2014
1 p.m.-2 p.m.
MIT Department of Physics
77 Massachusetts Avenue – Building 4-370
Cambridge, MA 02139

A math and physics double-major at MIT who consistently is ranked one of America’s top lawyers, Doug long accepted the prevailing belief on many college campuses that faith is incompatible with math and science.

He eventually decided to tackle the question of whether God exists by studying science and math, ultimately identifying seven areas of science that strongly support belief in God.

The result is his easy-to-read new book, Counting to God: A Personal Journey Through Science to Belief, in which he takes a balanced look at scientific arguments for and against the existence of God while sharing his personal journey of discovery.

During the June 11 talk, Doug will “count” through the creation and fine-tuning of the universe, the origin of life, technology of life, puzzles of macroevolution, special qualities of Earth and quantum physics. Doug will be introduced by Professor Peter Fisher, head of MIT’s Physics Department.

Doug Ell specializes in pension and benefits law for corporations and unions. After graduating from MIT, he received a master’s in theoretical mathematics from the University of Maryland and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. His book, Counting to God, is published by Attitude Media. www.CountingtoGod.com.
