Human Trafficking – From Vietnam’s border with China, Fred de Sam Lazaro reports on the continuing tragedy of human trafficking – poor country girls tricked into going to China where they have a choice between marriage and a brothel. Some of the girls escape, and get back to their villages, often only to be rejected by their own families. But there are people and organizations trying to help – finding scholarships so at least some of the girls who return can go back to school and learn job skills.

Threatened Churches – What happens to beautiful old church buildings when their congregations move away and there’s not enough money for basic maintenance or to prevent demolition? Saul Gonzales reports from Philadelphia on the organization “Partners for Sacred Spaces,” which is helping central city churches find tenants whose rent can keep the historic buildings from being torn down, even if the new uses are not traditionally religious.
