SALT LAKE CITY (RNS) “Though we may disagree, we should not be disagreeable," Mormon Apostle Dallin H. Oaks said before Utah started issuing marriage licenses to gay couples. "Our stands and communications on controversial topics should not be contentious.”

Its very easy to be civil when its not your civil liberties being discussed. 🙂

Mormons need to get their doctrine right because they say Jesus was the
spirit brother of lucifer/a created being and only a few people go to outer
darkness which are both not true! Jesus was there from the start and was
not a created being. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with
God and the Word was God then the Word/Jesus became flesh and dwealt
among us so the Trinity is real! People want to talk about gay marriage or
abortion but 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 lists getting drunk/drunkards,idolaters,
    swindlers,thieves,liars/gossips/slanderers,the sexually immoral/adulterers
and greedy coveters as people who go to hell if they don’t Repent. All sin
is bad and needs to be confronted not just gay marriage and/or abortion.
Pride, being mean/sharp tongues, jealousy, gambling are all sins and the
Bible says sex is for marriage yet most people today have premarital sex.
The wine Jesus made was new wine/from the fruit of the vine/diluted and
the Bible says don’t get drunk on strong wine so people who get drunk
with/on wine are also wrong/go to hell. All sin is bad! We all must Repent!
Luke 13 the whole chapter talks about bearing good fruit and that fruit is the
fruit of Repentance not good works because many non-believers do many
good works so good works don’t get us into heaven! Only if we Repent then
trust Jesus as our Lord do we get into heaven! Being a “good person” and
doing good works don’t/won’t matter because the Bible says that there is
no such thing as good people or a “good person” to God! The Bible says
there are none good…not even one! Bible says only Repenting and then
trusting in Jesus saves us! Bible says Repent or perish! We all must Repent!

    You intrigue me.

Do you just copy/paste the thing about drinking in all your comments?? Because you’ve included it before in a reply to me, me being a member of a Faith that forbids even “weak” wine.

And you bring it up now in a thing about Mormons?? A religious group that also forbids alcohol entirely?? Why do you bring this factoid about Christianity prohibiting drunkenness (which is true), instances where it is not relevant??

  • Karla

Fourth Valley- The point I’m making is all sin needs to get talked about
not just gay marriage so it’s relevant to the point I’m making but I also
meet person after person that claims to be Christian that still gets drunk
so it needs to be preached and many people on this sight have tried to
twist the Bible when it comes to drinking/getting drunk. The point I was
trying to make was we are all sinners/we all need to Repent not just the
homosexuals and abortion people so it’s very relevant to the point I’m
trying to make. Most people that talk about sin seem to only focus on
gay marriage and/or abortion. All sin is bad and needs to be confronted!

Interesting… but that’s not the Mormons. They don’t drink at all. They even practice fasting as commanded by Jesus, peace be upon him. They seem to take the kind of sins you talk about more seriously than other Christians, apart from them being non-Trinitarian.

So… why bring it up here?? In an article a religion that views all both of those sins seriously?? If it was used in comment to a group that condoned drunkenness, that I could understand. I just don’t see why HERE of all places.

Fourth Valley-As I said it was relevant to the point I was making
and many people on this website seem to only focus on abortion
and/or gay marriage so I hope other sins get talked about in the
articles that are written. I can’t speak for your experience but on
a regular basis I encounter people that still drink/get drunk so it
needs to be talked about. People today seem to focus on abortion
or gay marriage and these other sins just get swept under the rug
far too often! Jesus said many will say to Me Lord,Lord and not
enter heaven so people need to read the Bible/get their doctrine
right cause going to hell for eternity is a reality for people who
twist the Scripture! Bible says even if an angel appears to you
and preaches another Gospel don’t listen! Joseph Smith said
an angel appeared to him so he was fooled by the devil/a demon.
Bible says if someone preaches to you a different/another Gospel
that person will be eternally condemned so people need Truth!
The devil poses as an angel of light. Joseph Smith was fooled
because he was following his own heat/sinful desires and not the
Lord Jesus Christ! Bible says we must Repent/trust in Christ to
be saved because good works can’t save us so that nobody can
boast about what they did. Only Repenting/trusting Jesus saves!

Karla, since your sect of Christianity completely eschews involvement in affairs of a civil nature, your statements of faith are an irrelevance to the issues at hand.

The LDS on the other hand does have such prohibitions, since the subject is how their members comport themselves as they go about trying to give their views the color of law.

All you are basically saying is the LDS has beliefs different from your own. So what?

  • CarrotCakeMan

That’s the problem with Karla, Larry, Karla doesn’t accept that we all have a right to be free from her peculiar beliefs.

    Better late than never, Oaks.

why does your faith HAVE TO invent sins .. Like weak wine ..
Don’t you have enough real sins to feel sorry about?

I don’t know of any government regulation or bible teaching that says one cant drink real wine let alone weak wine..
