(RNS) Maybe it's good that commerce has declared its independence from religion and decorum. That clears the way for faith to have its parallel season -- not in competition with commerce, but as the deeper reality that commerce can never attain.

Very nice, Tom. A call above the noise to something deeper and eternal that should speak to the issues of our world with hope and peace. I also hate the whining of the religious right about the war on Christmas. Now is the time to offer something counter-cultural, something brighter, something of real value that is a gift to us all – Jesus.

Jesus is no longer a babe in a manger; he is the son of God who willingly sacrificed his perfect body so that mankind would no longer be slaves to sin, old age, sickness and disease and death on earth.

Fortunately for us imperfect humans, Jesus, as King of God’s kingdom or heavenly government, will soon intervene in man’s affairs and that government will put an end to all human governments, replace them (Daniel 2:44), and rule with love, justice and righteousness (Isaiah 11:1-9) over all mankind.

That government will also put an end to all sickness, disease, old age and death (Revelation 21:1-4).

It will also bring back to life on earth many who are still sleeping in death (Ecclesiastes 9:5,10), to be reunited with family and friends (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15).

All these blessings will be accomplished during the upcoming millennial rule by God’s kingdom!!

Instead of wasting time, money and energy on that most-commercialized “Christian” holiday (it has pagan origins and traditions which are not based on the pure worship of Jehovah God, the Father of Jesus), I will share the “good news of God’s kingdom” as the only hope and provider of peace worldwide (Mathew 4:17; 24:14) before the end of this wicked era comes!!! 😀
