Colombia’s Many Wars – For 50 years, Columbia has torn itself apart with civil war, drug wars and other persistent violence. Now, Fred de Sam Lazaro has found fragile signs of justice and even peace.

Religious Pilgrimages – It’s estimated that last year alone 200 million people around the world traveled to sacred sites seeking the presence of God. Author Bruce Feiler has assembled stories and extraordinary camera coverage to create a 6-part PBS series that begins December 16th. He gave us a preview.

Faith Groups Mobilize on Race – Protests are continuing across the country in the wake of the Missouri and New York grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers for the deaths of unarmed African American men. Host Bob Abernethy and Managing Editor Kim Lawton talk with Lisa Sharon Harper, senior director of mobilizing for Sojourners, about how churches and other faith groups are engaging issues of race, privilege and policing.

Hanukkah Reignited – The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City hosts a panel of prominent Jewish thinkers, who shed new light on the Hanukkah miracle of the oil. Rabbi Burt Visotzky, a professor at JTS, and Peter Yarrow, of musical group Peter, Paul and Mary, join them in discussion and song to explore the holiday’s themes of religious freedom and bringing light to the world.
