The Catholic Pilgrim Office is announcing special pilgrimages to Italy for the Jubilee of Mercy year. On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12 2015, Pope Francis will proclaim a year of Jubilee of Mercy from December 8 2015 to November 20 2016. The Jubilee announcement promotes the extended opening of churches in order to invite people to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The Holy doors at St. Peter’s, St. John Lateran, St Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major will be opened. These doors are only opened every 50 years!! The opening of these doors is a symbolic invitation that the faithful are offered an extraordinary pathway to salvation.
