NEW YORK (RNS) MOBIA’s fate was not a total surprise: The Bible Society, once MOBIA’s sole funder, had been ramping down its support. But the closing nonetheless deeply rattled those who treasured MOBIA as one of the few museums that routinely acknowledged art's religious context.

Too bad — it’s a nice streetfront atrium on Broadway between Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle. Hopefully that will remain.

A shame. I visited once and saw a number of things I’ve never encountered in any museum before or since.

Where were all the BIG NAME EVANGELISTS, Potentates, & POPEs in the process? Were none made to see the necessity of saving MOBIA’s work? Is it a case of ye of little faith, or ye of little ask? Heck Marilyn Hickey could have eyeballed however many buck$$$ needed in one silent tear drop PRAISE session. Rattle off the names. Slice him off a nice hunk, Mike Murdoch could have roused up a new wing. Wanted it built of Italian marble? Jesse DuPlantis could have had it flown there. T.D. Jakes would have brought the SECRET sauce. Methinks perchance MOBIA overlooked an opportunity to sell a compendium of its treasury online via any of a hundred evangelist’s cable productions. Galvanized by forces such as these, common people would have rushed to gladly pay to possess a DVD or MP-whatever version of BIBLE Art. Look to GOD’s people, MOBIT. We are here to serve HIS NAME. Hebrews 11:6 Matthew 7:7-8 Did anyone ask? AMEN 😀 !!!
