UNITY VILLAGE, Mo.—From the prayers of a Kansas City, Mo., couple in 1890 to millions of prayers globally in 2015, Silent Unity® continues to change lives for the better.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of Silent Unity, the worldwide prayer ministry of Unity. Inspired by Unity cofounder Myrtle Fillmore, whose health was transformed through affirmative prayer, its purpose has never faltered: healing lives through the power of prayer.

Myrtle Fillmore’s healing convinced her husband Charles Fillmore to begin a spiritual practice. Together they started a prayer group, acknowledging the spirit of God within each participant and asserting positive beliefs about the outcome. Today Silent Unity responds to prayer requests 24/7 via telephone, postal mail, online, and through its uPray app for mobile devices.

Silent Unity vice president Rev. Lynne Brown says the prayer ministry is here for people of all faiths and all walks of life.

“Silent Unity has touched millions of people’s lives in its 125 years of service,” she said. “Generations of families rely on Silent Unity, continuing the tradition of this trusted prayer resource. We pray with people of all faiths and from every walk of life, receiving thousands of prayer requests each day.”

People wanting to know more about the work of Silent Unity can go to a new anniversary site, silentunity.org/125. It tells about the beginnings of Silent Unity, invites people to share stories of answered prayers, and allows the public to express ideas about how Silent Unity can flourish in the future.

Silent Unity has been a beacon of affirmative prayer for the past 125 years.

“Prayer fosters peace, healing, and harmony in times of change—in individual lives and in the world,” Brown said. “We are honored to pray, to help make a positive difference, now and in the years ahead.”
