A population of 22K deserve a cemetery. The objections here are based on unreasonable fear. This is America, religious freedom applies to all religions, not just fundamentalist Christians. Even in Texas. Arguments that “__ religion is evil” are never valid cause for government to act.

  • Re: “Resident Barbara Ashcraft told the Dallas Morning News after the meeting: ‘People don’t trust Muslims. Their goal is to populate the United States and take it over.'”

Heh. As though Christianists haven’t already been doing a really good job of this, themselves (having taken control of Congress as well as a majority of statehouses). Seems just a tad hypocritical for her to accuse people of another religion of doing the same thing.

  • Of course; but these good Chrishun folk don’t buy any of that. In another report on this case [http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/08/05/why-is-farmersville-texas-so-dead-set-against-a-muslim-cemetery.html] someone at a public meeting on it worried about “seepage” from “the Muslim burial process.” As though Muslim-hood can leak into the ground and work its way outward or something. Talk about nucking futs!

) Lockerbie is known internationally as the site where, on 21 December 1988, the wreckage of Pan Am Flight 103 crashed as a result of a terrorist bomb. In the United Kingdom the event is referred to as the Lockerbie disaster, the Lockerbie bombing, or simply Lockerbie. Eleven townspeople were killed in Sherwood Crescent, where the plane’s wings and fuel tanks plummeted in a fiery explosion, destroying several houses and leaving a huge crater, with debris causing damage to a number of buildings nearby. I live close to Farmersville. These people didn’t do terror acts. And everyone needs a place to bury thier dead loved ones. Not allowing the cemetary dosen’t mean the muslims will just go away. Stop being bigots.

You are indeed living proof that hypocrisy and xenophobia are alive and well. Should we review the history of violence associated with Christian imperialism?

  • Larry

And what does any of this have to do with people in texas burying their dead in a manner consistent with the free exercise of religion guaranteed by our laws?

Nothing. Its worth repeating, Arguments that “__ religion is evil” are never valid cause for government to act.
