SALT LAKE CITY – After the Scouts voted to accept openly gay leaders last month, the LDS Church said it "considering creating its own international program for boys, separate from the Boy Scouts of America."

    The top leadership of the LDS Church is the First Presidency. The second level of leadership is the Quorum of Twelve Apostles. They are two separate groups of male church leaders which you have confused together.

    One can engage in homosexuality, repent and “still” be a Christian.

    It is not the same for engaging in Mormonism.

    I am excited to hear that the LDS-BSA relationship will continue. I love the Boy Scouts of America and I love the Church. These are two great organizations with a united mission to strengthen the rising generation. God bless!

    Let the gays think they have won a legal battle, the reality is that few gays are interested in being part of the Scouts.

    How can the church leadership rationalize these two statements?

    “At this time, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will go forward as a chartering organization of BSA…” 8/26 statement

    “the admission of openly gay leaders is inconsistent with the doctrines of the Church… July 27th, 2015 statement.

    We are not getting consistent direction from Salt Lake.

    Long and the short of it is, the LDS is happy it can still discriminate. Staying in the BSA still helps the church maintain a level of mainstream visibility, which it needs. Especially since every other form of Bible Thumper considers them cultish heretics.
