The bible says she should be stoned three times, once for each of her divorces. So, get those stones ready, those of you who are true Christians.

And then there’s her obvious sins of gluttony. I guess god will get her for those, after her heart attack…

  • Cheryl

The mask of activist bigotry is unveiled. It was never about tolerance. But domination.

  • Morris

No, Cheryl. Just presenting the rules dictated by the wicked Christian bible.

Care to comment on the subject now?

  • Larry

Because when you are being paid by wingnut welfare and sticking your clients with your adversary’s legal costs, you can file as many frivolous actions as you can get away with.

BTW Cheryl how is abusing a public position to force others to abide by your religious belief not “activist bigotry”?

Oh right, she is a Christian and shares your prejudices. So anything can be excused. The people supporting Davis and her waste of executive and judicial resources is reprehensible.

All this demonstrates is that Christians never need to be taken seriously when they speak of morality or ” acts of conscience”.

  • Erika

The job requires the clerk to give out marriage licenses. I fully support Kim Davis’s right to stand up for her religion. But seriously, if you can’t do the job you are being paid to do, the only logical solution is to quit the job and let someone who can do the job step in. Simple fix. Kim Davis’s refusal to do her job and not step down is why she is in jail. She knew when she took a government j0b she was going to be held to the letter of the law. Do your job or quit and let someone else do it. Quit wasting the tax payers money and causing unneeded drama that only further dirties the reputation of Christians and organized religions in general. God isn’t about hate. Time people remembered that.

Morris- That was the Old Testament so let’s get some context here
since we are in the New Testament that part of the Bible no longer
applies today. God/Jesus is real but many deny God/Jesus because
they don’t want to be told how to live. Romans 1:18-32 makes it clear
that people love their sin so they all then deny the Truth. God/Jesus
made it known to us He is real through the miracle of creation cause
the earth didn’t just create itself. Bible prophecy accuracy proves the
Bible is Truth and that Jesus is the Messiah/the only way to heaven!

  • HT

HT- The New Testament says nothing about stoning so you are
not accurate. We are all in the New Testament so what the Bible
says in the New Testament is what applies today like both sons
and daughters shall prophesy which shows women are allowed
to preach/prophesy in the last days/the times of today so again
we need to read the Bible/ get some context in all you then say.

Yes, if a major amendment to man’s laws goes against her conscience concerning God’s principles and commands, then she should resign and/or find other employment that would not go against her conscience.

It would be most beneficial for her to take this matter to God through prayer, requesting his help, since He is a listener of prayer and truly aids his servants.

  • Scott Shaver

Really “gracious” comments in this thread from the LBGT agenda friendly crowd.

Are these the kind of people that David Gushee suggests are getting the “back of the hand by conservative Christians.

I guess their “back-hands” are inadvertent in the process of running away from these gently misunderstood saints.

  • Richard Rush

HT said, “God/Jesus made it known to us He is real through the miracle of creation cause the earth didn’t just create itself.”

Does that mean God created himself?

I think we can all agree that humans are laughably simple beings compared to a god who must be infinitely more intelligent, knowledgeable, skilled, and powerful to have created the universe. There is a classic question that people seem to prefer expending as little time as possible contemplating: Where did God come from? A common answer is essentially that God is eternal, and thus has always been there. And then they quickly change the subject. I think all the answers to this question I’ve heard are designed to avoid any serious consideration of the question.

If you cannot believe that life on earth could have developed via evolution, how can you possibly believe that an infinitely more intelligent, knowledgeable, skilled, and powerful God came into existence spontaneously, or by a form of evolution?

I always find this argument, that the Bible says marriage is male/female so forcing someone to honor/recognize gay marriage forces them to violate the Bible, to be a bit bizarre. It implicitly accepts that a secular government has a right to define (or redefine) the truth of God. If marriage is as those people believe, it’s truly man/woman regardless of what any human institution says about the concept.

I say this as a Christian, by the way. Even when I agreed in this conception of marriage, I was able to recognize a difference between a sacrament and a secular institution. Saying there is a conflict is giving the world too much power.

  • “God isn’t about hate.”

There seems to be a lot of evidence to the contrary.

  • Briain

The new testament is merely a oollection of writings chosen by the Emperor Constantine at the council of Niceaa in 325 a.d. to help him control his empire under one religion of intolerance, fear and guilt. Jesus loved but religions control! Constantine was a very shrewd man who knew that the superstitious and insecure populace of his empire would fall easy prey to a religion quick to condem and punish with a very real club while making grandiose promises of a heaven that they couldn’t know for sure about until they died and by then it didn’t matter.
“St.” Paul was no different than modern day televangelists and pulpit thumpers who spew nothing but guilt and shame on their poor ignorant audiences and then rake it in with promises of “salvation”!
Jesus was an awesome philosopher who taught love, nothing more, nothing less. And whose simple nature was politicized by all those who gained to benefit from their version of him.
Does Kim Davis love as Jesus taught us to? I think…

  • I think not! LOVE is all you need, John Lennon

  • Greg, a Christian

Kim Davis is obeying God’s law over a man-made law that violates God’s law. God condemns homosexuality, see Genesis 19:1-11 (City of Soddom destroyed for failing to repent), Leviticus 18:22 (homosexuality is called an abomination), Leviticus 20:13 (penalty is stoning – note: God’s Old Testament laws were given to the Jewish people, not Christians, and do not apply to Christians unless repeated in the New Testament), Romans 1:26-27 (homosexuality called unnatural, and shameless act). Examples of people obeying God’s law rather than a conflicting man-made law: 1. The apostles Peter and John refused to obey the High Priest and Sadducees who had Peter and John arrested for preaching about Jesus (Book of Acts, Chapters 3 & 4 – verse 4:19-20 “But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”). 2. The Hebrew midwives who refused to kill Hebrew…

  • Love-n-tolerance

It’s unfortunate; but true, that a LOT of Christians are misinformed and use the Bible (God’s Holy word spoken to and thru prophets and other sources)…. Nobody seems to care about “learning and studying history and how all this came about”…. nor do MOST have the Intelligent Quotient it takes to FULLY understand ALL of it (or maybe even parts of the “Word of God”); therefore, just like a bully on the playground who was made to look foolish by a “geek” who knows how to communicate and actually knows the meanings of words…. the bully has NO choice but to CALL NAMES….. It’s the tell-tale sign of one whom cannot fathom…. (NO, I DID not just call people who do not understand stupid… before it starts getting twisted). I DO find it awfully “CONVENIENT” that their actions are making national news over people whom are SCREAMING discrimination, homophobic, blah, blah. Seriously?? Just move a county over…. TADA!! we have MUCH GREATER issues at hand than if Peter can…

  • Ben in oakland

Actually, Constantine took off for Constantinople not long afterwards, leaving Rome in the hand of its news Christian masters. 150 years later, old Rome was dead. New Rome lasted another 900 years, until the good Christians of the time sacked it, setting it up for the Ottoman Empire to conquer, leading to another 500 years of strife.

  • Ben in oakland

And yet. Christians are commanded to respect the secular authorities.

Lucky for you and for Davis, you’re not really Christians.

  • Greg1

The Old Testament was and still is the Covenant God had/has with the Jewish race. And those Jews who do no recognize Christ, must follow and live by the Old Covenant. However, those Jews and Gentiles who believe in Christ, and who have been baptized into the Faith, must live by the New Covenant. And for those in the New Covenant, the Old Covenant’s prescriptions are no longer in force, other than the natural law that all humans are bound to, and the moral law that runs through the Old Testament like a river. We still must follow the Ten Commandments, but understood properly in accord with the Gospel given to us by Christ.

  • Larry

Because one should be civil about the wellspring of support for someone who abused public power to engage in discrimination?

Anyone who values civity would come out against such activities.

Your tone trolling is duly noted.

  • Larry

“I DO find it awfully “CONVENIENT” that their actions are making national news over people whom are SCREAMING discrimination, homophobic, blah, blah.”

So are you denying discrimination and homophobia exists or are you just annoyed that it is being pointed out?

  • Bob

Greg1, the whole Christ-sacrifice story, the foundation of your crazy superstition that you keep promoting here, is a steaming pile of nonsense. How is it again that your omnipotent being couldn’t do his saving bit without the whole silly Jesus hoopla? And how was Jesus’ death a “sacrifice”, when an omnipotent being could just pop up a replacement son any time with less than a snap of his fingers?

Furthermore, 2000+ years with not a shred of verifiable evidence and without a peep from the sky fairy of your god myths is more than sufficient grounds for doubt, to say the least. Pretty pathetic “god” that you’ve made for yourself there.

Ask the questions. Break the chains. Join the movement.

God’s law!!!??? There is no such thing as God’s law! Man made god in his own image (not the other way around) and therefore it is the law of ancient superstitious and ignorant men full of fear and hatred for those who differed from them. The old testament is nothing but a written version of the various stories, myths, legends and antiquated jurisprudence of the Jewish people. Except for the first two commandments (because there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that any sort of deity exists) the ten, or eight if you will, commandments are quite logical. Jesus had/has only one commandment, love! Love yourself, love others. Do not judge and condemn others because they are different from you, rather accept them as you accept yourself. Do not expect anything from others, rather give them the best you have to offer and that is your love. Nothing more nothing less.

  • Shawnie5

The Da Vinci code was fiction, Briain.

  • Greg

Much of the bible is also fiction. All the parts about a divine “god” certainly are.

  • Jihadi Jimmy

Kim Davis is following the will of Allah!

It is the duty of all Muslims to fight the way of the infidel. Man made law cannot supplant Allah’s true will as laid down in the Koran. Allah commands that gays be punished for their abomination. No government official can be punished if they are simply doing Allah’s will, as Kim Davis has. After all if the Koran commands it, then nothing else matters.

  • Greg1

Bob you sound like a — what the old saying? — broken record. Tell me one thing, how did the Big Bang happen?

  • Larry

“how did the Big Bang happen?”

Talk to an astrophysicist. They study this sort of thing and do research. They can give you an informed, intelligent answer.

This is as opposed to throwing up your hands and saying “God did it”.

“I don’t know, therefore God did it” is a terrible argument for religious belief. It posits that believers are an ignorant bunch who accept religious dogma because they are too lazy to look things up themselves. I am sure your intention is not to make religious believers look silly, but it is inherent in your line of reasoning.

  • Bob

Greg1, we understand fairly well how the big bang happened. You can easily look that up, but it is not necessary to know how it happened to know that your Christian beliefs are complete nonsense. So, stop dodging my questions again, coward. Here they are again, since you’ve tried to dodge them yet again:

How is it again that your omnipotent being couldn’t do his saving bit without the whole silly Jesus hoopla? And how was Jesus’ death a “sacrifice”, when an omnipotent being could just pop up a replacement son any time with less than a snap of his fingers?

Furthermore, 2000+ years without a peep from your supposedly active, caring deity is more than sufficient grounds for doubt, to say the least.

Pretty pathetic “god” that you’ve made for yourself there.

Ask the questions. Break the chains. Join the movement.

  • Briain

shawnie5, you obviously didn’t pay attention in history class!

  • Jihadi jimmy, try reading all of the Quran, not just the parts that fuel your homicidal desires!

  • Larry

Why should I? Obviously plenty of people here support Sharia Law.

They get that righteous servants of God have a duty to combat the sin of others. They understand law of man must be ignored and fought where it conflicts with the word of Allah. Do we not see people running for president declaring so?

Aside from their wayward practice of not calling Allah by his proper name, they are as righteous as the fighters in Daesh. Bringing back the Caliphate to Baghdad and Damascus.
