Declining Mainline Protestantism meets Evangelicalism meets the Occupy Movement

Brownfields is a work of Christian fiction about personal transformations and the awakening of a community’s soul.

Brownfields is a work of Christian fiction about personal transformations and the awakening of a community’s soul. An old battery factory in a residential neighborhood of Allentown, Pennsylvania has received the EPA designation of “brownfield” and is finally slated for redevelopment. A greedy corporation is on the prowl and the people in the community fear the new construction will hinder the neighborhood more than help it. Many residents and community leaders have their own figurative brownfields as well, and these prevent them from working for the common good. What will it take for a restoration of individuals and the community?

Brownfields is written by Rev. Elizabeth Goudy. For over 15 years, Goudy has pastored an LGBTA church, Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley. From 2008-2015 the church was located in north Allentown, the neighborhood that inspired Brownfields. She loves witnessing the redevelopment of abandoned factories (and people).

Goudy has served as a guest columnist for the Morning Call newspaper “Faith & Values” section.
