The Worst Christian Book Covers of 2013

It's that time of year again. Find the worst Christian book covers of 2013 (stylistically awkward, theologically bizarre, or just butt-ugly) and win a prize.

It’s that time of year again! The Englewood Review of Books is offering its annual contest for the worst Christian book covers from 2013. You have until November 4 to submit your suggestions and win a prize.

So keep an eye out for book covers that were:

  • stylistically awkward
  • theologically inappropriate or bizarre
  • just butt-ugly

To whet your appetite, here are three from last year’s finalists.

Revelation Road

As Englewood put it, “Look there, Sonny, it’s our long-awaited hope, appearing just beyond the horizon … and it’s a NUCLEAR EXPLOSION!!!”

Deadly Image

Yeah, pointing a gun at the reader’s head is one way to encourage book sales. That’s a “deadly image,” all right, but maybe not in the way the author intended.

 Chesterton

Poor, poor, Chesterton. I guess his works must be in the public domain now? If not, whoever designed this deserves to be sued.

Have ideas for the contest? You can submit them to the contest for the next week and a half at this site. Happy hunting.
