COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Church and ministry leaders seeking guidance on legal compliance yet remaining true to their beliefs following Supreme Court decisions on same-sex marriage and abortion can benefit from a free webinar on Sept. 18 with experts from Lewis Roca Rothgerber, LLP, a leader in religious institutions law.

The free webinar, Churches and Ministries – After the Revolution, starts at 12 pm ET on Sept. 18. Hosted by the Lewis Roca Rothgerber Religious Institutions Group, participants can register by clicking here. Advance registration is required.

“A revolution in the law regarding sexual relationships has now twice achieved its Holy Grail: first, the 1973 constitutional right to abortion and, now, the constitutional right to same-sex marriage,” says Martin Nussbaum, a partner in Lewis Roca Rothgerber’s Religious Institutions practice group.

Cultural forces and activist groups have created a seismic shift in popular culture, with efforts to restrict religious liberty protections growing daily.

“The question now is how far these forces will continue and whether churches and other ministries will be able to do their work consistent with their religious beliefs,” explains Nussbaum, who represents  churches, denominations, religious schools and other ministries in Colorado and nationwide.

Nussbaum and Eric Kniffin, attorneys at Lewis Roca Rothgerber who advise religious institutions and advocate for them at the trial and appellate levels, will present strategies for remaining true to your ministry’s faith following these Supreme Court decisions.

“Religious organizations are unique in several regards. They are called by faith to advance a religious mission. Their inspired callings result in unique policies and governance and, often, in values and practices that may be contrary to the dominant secular culture and the civil laws reflecting that culture,” adds Kniffin.

The Religious Institutions Group at Lewis Roca Rothgerber serves religious organizations with sensitivity to their distinctive characteristics and with knowledge and experience regarding their unique legal status.

The free webinar is slated for Sept. 18 at 12 pm ET, 11 am CT, 10 am MT and 9 am PT. Registration is required, participants can register here.
