Franciscan Media today named Heidi Hess Saxton as editorial director the Servant Imprint beginning October 12. Saxton will fill a key position for the leading Catholic publisher, and marking an important step in Franciscan Media’s strategic plan for the development, innovation and growth of the imprint.
Most recently acquisitions editor at Ave Maria Press, Saxton began her publishing career at Servant Publications before the publisher was acquired by Franciscan Media in 2003. Saxton left Servant in 2001 to raise her family and pursue a graduate degree in theology. Saxton then resumed her publishing career as an editor in 2011, and over the course of her career has acquired and edited more than 120 books and print-media products, working with some of the most respected Christian authors and media personalities today.
Mark Lombard, director of the book publishing division and foreign rights at Franciscan Media, recognizes that Saxton’s intimate knowledge of the imprint’s history uniquely qualifies her to lead the brand going forward. “We are so pleased and proud to welcome Heidi Saxton to Franciscan Media. She has the experience, contacts, skill and determination to help us grow and sustain the long-term vitality of Servant. She will make a strong addition to our team.”
Saxton sees this new opportunity as a kind of homecoming. “I was thrilled to see so many of the books I edited twenty years ago still on Servant’s backlist, attesting to the intrinsic value of these spiritual classics. Joining Franciscan Media is an irresistible opportunity to think broadly and strategically and to discover the new voices and compelling messages that will inspire, entice and provoke—showcasing and celebrating the Catholic faith in all its glorious beauty and unflinching truth.”
