Religion News Service now available on Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Religion News Service (RNS) is pleased to introduce a new way for readers to access religion news headlines through the “Religion News Headlines” skill on Alexa, Amazon’s voice-controlled assistant, on Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices, as well as on Google Home smart speakers.

The “Religion News Headlines” come out each weekday morning and provides a brief summary of top religion news stories of the day, which are published in full on the RNS website, www.religionnews.com. The apps also include reminders about Re-Sight Islam, a top-rated weekly podcast on Islam co-hosted by Qasim Rashid and Salaam Bhatti in partnership Religion News Foundation (RNF) (available on iTunes.com and podbean.com), and a daily religion insight, with facts about upcoming religious holidays, birthdays of famous religious figures, and more.

“With the world of media and technology changing so quickly, these voice-activated skills are a terrific way to reach the RNS audience,” says Thomas Gallagher, RNF CEO and RNS CEO and publisher. “We continue to expand our on-demand audio offerings for current and new audiences, including the addition of podcasts,” he said. “We will be launching another new podcast in December.  Stay tuned.”

To enable the skill on Alexa, search for “Religion News Headlines” on your mobile or desktop Alexa portal. Once installed, to access content, say, “Alexa, what are today’s religion news headlines?”

To enable the command on Google Home, search for “Religion News Headlines” on your mobile or desktop Google Home portal. Once installed, to access content, say, “Okay Google, talk to today’s religion news headlines.”
