GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The faith-based organization, Repairers of the Breach today joined the Union for Reform Judaism, Border Network for Human Rights, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and other religious leaders in announcing a faith leaders’ media call on Thursday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The purpose of the call is to discuss the treatment of immigrants and the fatal shooting in El Paso on Aug. 3. The call participants joined the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, who heads Repairers of the Breach, in El Paso, TX for “Moral Monday at the Borderlands” just five days before the mass shooting in El Paso. During the Aug. 8 call, the leaders will make a statement to the country about the moral reckoning needed in this moment.

“We are interested in discussing the many manifestations of violence that are spurred on by white nationalism,” said the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, president of Repairers of the Breach. “White nationalism violence is also showing up in policy, domestic terrorism, and hateful rhetoric. The faith communities must respond by forcefully challenging white nationalism.”
