NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In response to the constant change and uncertainty the world has experienced over the past two years, The Upper Room will host an online conference, RESILIENCE | Healing Practices for Mind, Body, & Spirit, September 30–October 2, 2021.
Kara Lassen Oliver, executive director of The Upper Room Center for Christian Spiritual Formation and a workshop leader for the conference, says, “All of the changes over the past two years have created layers of trauma and exhaustion. Many of us long for resilience, the ability to recover from difficulties.
“Through the RESILIENCE conference, The Upper Room invites anyone seeking rest and renewal to experience spiritual practices that tap into the deep love of God,” Oliver adds. “These practices renew us and enable us to thrive as faithful disciples who point to hope in our world.”
The RESILIENCE conference provides space for people to find rest as they explore healthy spiritual practices to recover from this long period of trauma. Resilience will include storytelling, time for personal reflection and conversation, guided spiritual practice, and worship. This gathering will introduce spiritual tools that individuals can use in their own healing journey or in the healing journey through which they lead others.
Speakers and workshop leaders include:
- Sidwell Mokgothu
- Trevor Hudson
- Dr. Amy Steele
- Dr. Ron Bell
- Kimberly Orr
- Kara Lassen Oliver
