Sam Brownback joins Christian persecution watchdog Open Doors USA as Senior Fellow

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Open Doors USA announces Sam Brownback will join the organization as Senior Fellow. Brownback most recently served as U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, from February 2018 to January 2021. He is also co-chair for the International Religious Freedom Summit. As Senior Fellow, Brownback will continue to research the most pressing issues in religious persecution and advocate on behalf of persecuted religious minorities worldwide.

Ambassador Brownback’s previous roles in government include serving as Governor of Kansas from 2011 to 2018, and representing Kansas in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. While a member of the Senate, he worked actively on the issue of religious freedom in multiple countries and was a key sponsor of the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998.
