A coalition of bridge-building organizations across the nation addresses our current state of division and polarization.

On January 5, 2022, a coalition of organizations, led by Ideos Institute, will host the first annual National Day of Dialogue, an invitation to all Americans to change our current state of division and polarization by crossing lines of difference and into real dialogue. Kicking off with the virtual premiere of a new documentary film, Dialogue Lab: America, plans for the event include panel conversations, appearances and recorded statements by coalition partners and high-profile guests, partner events, and live dialogue opportunities at host sites around the country. An official announcement of the day’s events will be available on the National Day of Dialogue website, NationalDayofDialogue.com, in November.

“As a nation, we have largely lost our ability to have hard conversations without judgment, animus, or fear,” said Ideos President & CEO, Christy Vines. “The goal of this project is to arrest that trajectory; to change what is becoming our go-to when it comes to hard conversations so people can sit down and talk about real issues in a constructive and productive way. Dialogue Lab: America shows how it can be done and provides hope one conversation at a time.”

How 13 Americans Inspired A Movement

In early 2021, thirteen Americans came together in a powerful experiment. One that would decide whether a few people could begin the process of knitting together an entire nation. Representing far right, far left, and everything in between, they came together with only one goal: to see if it was possible to cross ideological, political, cultural, and even spiritual divides and find common ground. Most were fearful; others highly skeptical. But they had two things in common: faith in humanity, and a shared belief that by stepping across lines of difference, real change might occur.

The success of this experiment is the inspiration for the National Day of Dialogue, and the story behind Dialogue Lab: America. Watch the trailer here:
