Maryknoll’s publishing arm claims “Personal Best” of 28 awards
The Catholic Media Association has honored Orbis Books and authors with 28 book awards at their 2022 Conference in Portland, OR, July 4-7. In a field of 39 prize-winning book publishers, Orbis Books received the highest total number of awards, including 9 First Place:

Among the remaining awardees is first-time author Olga Segura, for Birth of a Movement: Black Lives Matter and the Catholic Church; Jordan Denari-Duffner for Islamophobia: What Christians Should Know (and Do) About Anti-Muslim Discrimination; and Gordon Oyer for Signs of Hope: Thomas Merton’s Letters on Peace, Race, and Ecology.
Orbis Books publisher Robert Ellsberg notes, “These prize-winning books are a good reflection of the Orbis program itself: concern for the global dimensions of Christian faith, promoting dialogue and offering a message of hope.” Mr. Ellsberg received three awards himself.
