Institute for Bible Reading announces transition

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Institute for Bible Reading’s (IFBR) Board of Directors has reluctantly accepted the resignation of executive director, Alex Goodwin, effective November 1, 2022. Goodwin stated that he has been increasingly sensing God calling him to a new assignment and he wants to be attentive to that call.

Scott Bolinder, IFBR’s board chair and first executive director, will assume an interim executive director role beginning November 1, 2022.  Upon acceptance of Goodwin’s resignation, the board has already begun to discern the next right steps for the organization as it approaches its seventh anniversary.

Bolinder remarked, “While the board is saddened by Alex’s decision given the excellent job he has done in his first year as executive director, we fully support his discernment about God’s unfolding story for his life.”

IFBR was founded by Goodwin and three other colleagues in February 2016 as an “activist Bible think tank” focused on inviting people into God’s transformative story by changing how they read the Bible. Already the evidence of their growing influence is marked by increasing sales of their signature resource, Immerse: The Reading Bible (awarded the Gold Medallion “Bible of the Year” in 2022 by ECPA); a rising podcast, The Bible Reset with over 63,000 downloads in over 175 countries; and new initiatives like Immerse for Schools.

According to board vice chair, Janet Stump, “We are propelling a movement to welcome people to a fresh Bible reading experience yielding transformed lives who are better equipped to have global Kingdom impact.”
