One year after the death of Babe Ruth, a memorial for the famous baseball player nears completion in the plant of A. Ottavino in Ozone Park, Long Island, N.Y., in 1949. One of the plant workers puts finishing touches on the head of the child-likeness of Babe Ruth as a boy. Looking on with admiration and devotion are two Ozone Park youngsters. The figure of Christ is 7 feet, 2 inches. Later it was placed at Ruth's grave in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
