VATICAN CITY (RNS) The meeting on Tuesday morning, the first between a pope and an Iranian leader since 1999, had been set for November, but Hassan Rouhani's European trip was postponed after the Paris terror attacks.
Rouhani, a relative moderate, said Islamic principles opposed violence and the extremism of groups such as Islamic State stemmed from "narrow-mindedness and a lack of moderation".
