PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago (RNS) — After the country’s high court declares anti-gay laws to be unconstitutional, many religious leaders are doubling down on their opposition to same-sex marriage.
(RNS) The Republican Party platform promotes traditional marriage, the First Amendment Defense Act, the sanctity of life and other issues championed by religious conservatives.
(RNS) The new policies make the LDS church, with about 15 million members globally, the largest Christian denomination to enact such a formal — and some say draconian — policy. Children of same-sex couples are effectively denied baptism and other ordinances of the church.
(Reuters) Republican Jeb Bush said that he does not believe the U.S. Constitution grants a right to gay marriage as the Supreme Court ponders that very question ahead of a landmark ruling expected next month.
