John Taylor, director of film and visual arts for the World Council of Churches, right, with Pavel Prochazka in 1971. Taylor was the editor of "Preacher," a one-minute animated movie that won him a series of awards, including a Certificate of Special Mention at the Chicago International Film Festival. It was shown as one of the best films of the year at the London Film Festival, praised at the 8th International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France, and shown at the Festival of World Television in Hollywood, California. Conceived and produced by Taylor, "Preacher" was a satirical comment on the misuse of television by the church. "I am not against preaching or the proclamation of the Gospel," Taylor said, "but I am opposed to using a totally verbal form of expression on a visual medium. It just doesn't work."
