A guide to women’s spiritual renewal

(UNDATED) Hundreds of thousands of men have joined the Promise Keepers movement, a Colorado-based Christian organization established in 1991 to renew men’s commitment to their faith and their families. And now, women are getting into the act.

Here’s a list of new women’s groups, independent of Promise Keepers, but designed to tap into the same principles:

Established in 1995, the group has sponsored women’s prayer meetings in states such as Louisiana, California, Minnesota and Texas. It also supports women’s ministries at churches and develops prayer guides keyed to Promise Keepers rallies.

Established in 1996 as a division of a Christian counseling group, Women of Faith holds conferences across the country designed to provide inspiration and encouragement to women.

Established in 1995, Chosen Women expects 50,000 women to attend a spiritual renewal event to be held in May 1997 at a sports arena in southern California.

Established in 1993, Suitable Helpers is sponsoring conferences in six American cities this year and organizes prayer groups nationwide. It also conducts programs in foreign countries including the Philippines, Canada, Thailand, South Africa, New Guinea.
