Sponsorship Consultant

Religion News Service (RNS) seeks a Sponsorship Manager/Consultant to launch and manage a digital advertising/sponsorship operation focused on revenue-generating products. This position will be responsible for developing sponsorship ideas that are cross-platform opportunities for advertisers including the website, podcasts, newsletters, and events.

This contract position — which could turn into a full-time role — will report to the CEO and work closely with the operations and editorial teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sourcing and developing relationships with sponsors and advertisers
  • Developing customized advertising solutions across all RNS platforms
  • Actively diversifying advertising client base by offering strategic solutions
  • Managing renewals and negotiations with clients
  • Developing new revenue-generating products in coordination with the operations and editorial teams 
  • Coordinating with Accounts Manager on fulfillment and tracking of all sponsorship agreements
  • Meet key performance metrics and goals
  • Aligning organizational mission and strategy with sponsorship and sales efforts
  • Effectively manage sales pipeline and revenue gaps using Salesforce 
  • Joining stakeholder meetings within the organization

Experience in sales and sponsorship work is a requirement. Experience in a nonprofit newsroom, and/or a religion-based organization is a plus, but not a requirement.

Social Media Manager

Religion News Service (RNS) seeks a social media manager that has experience in social media best practices to lead our organization in creating and implementing a strong social strategy on the cutting edge of editorial audience engagement. This position will be based in the audience development team but will work closely with the editorial team.

This position will be in charge of running social media efforts to help manage RNS’s rapidly-growing social platforms in order to drive traffic to its website and provide meaningful engagement with audience members. Responsibilities include: scheduling on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram; weekly quiz creation; creating and sending RNS’s daily and weekly newsletters, as well as special-edition newsletters; launching new products on social media to attract new audiences, such as a Facebook Live weekly series; graphic design work; and comment moderation on website. The ideal candidate will have a background in social media management for publishers and experience working within a newsroom. Audience development experience, graphic design experience, and an interest in religion are a plus. This position is currently set at $25/hour for an estimated 40 hours/week. This contract position ideally starts between June 1-15, 2022.
