Wednesday’s Religion News Roundup: Purim partying; Mitt Romney’s March; Pot Robertson

Happy Purim, Jewish friends! Despite the festive holiday, some Jewish leaders worry about Purim becoming a mix between Halloween and Fat Tuesday,  with young yeshiva students imbibing to excess.

Speaking of Fat, or, er Super Tuesday, that was quite a day, huh? Despite winning six of 10 states, Mitt Romney still suffers from the perception (or narrative) that he just can't seal the deal

Romney continued his success with Catholic voters, outperforming Rick Santorum with that crucial constituency in closely watched Ohio.

But Romney continues to flounder in heavily evangelical states, which means Mitt's in for a long March, saith our own Mark Silk.

The White House is pushing back against Cardinal Timothy Dolan, saying that talks to modify a controversial birth control mandate are not “going nowhere.”

Vice President Biden toured the Virgin of Guadalupe's shrine in Mexico City, and nearly succumbed to tears while recalling his mother's devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will pray with Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday, “a sign of moving together along the same path,” says the Vatican spokesman.

Four Danes have been charged for planning a shooting attack on a newspaper that had printed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Israeli mailmen are refusing to deliver copies of the New Testament, and not because they're too heavy.

Some Massachusetts prep school alum don't want Liberty University to buy their alma mater's campus.

Americans would rather take financial advice from Donald Trump than the Bible, according to a new survey.

An 81-year-old Rhode Island woman who slept with her lottery ticket in a Bible won a $336.4 million PowerBall prize, one of the largest ever jackpots in the U.S.

Let's see someone try that with “Trump Never Give Up.”

Pat Robertson says it's “crazy” to arrest people for pot possession

“I became sort of a hero of the hippie culture, I guess, when I said I think we ought to decriminalize the possession of marijuana,” Robertson told Reason magazine

Yup, hero.
