RNS Names Yonat Shimron Managing Editor

Award-winning journalist Yonat Shimron has been named managing editor at Religion News Service (RNS), reporting to Kevin Eckstrom, the editor-in-chief.  Shimron will join the news team on June 3, where she will help develop online religion coverage and work with staff, freelancers and bloggers to shape stories. For the past two years, she has served as development director at RNS where she raised foundation and individual support for the nonprofit subscription-based news wire and website. Before joining RNS, Shimron was the religion reporter for The News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C., for 15 years. While there, she won numerous awards from the Religion Newswriters Association and was a nine-time winner of the Duke Divinity School Award for Excellence in Religion Reporting. She served as president of the Religion Newswriters Association from 2006-2007.

No paywalls here. Thanks to you.
As an independent nonprofit, RNS believes everyone should have access to coverage of religion that is fair, thoughtful and inclusive. That's why you will never hit a paywall on our site; you can read all the stories and columns you want, free of charge (and we hope you read a lot of them!)

But, of course, producing this journalism carries a high cost, to support the reporters, editors, columnists, and the behind-the-scenes staff that keep this site up and running. That's why we ask that if you can, you consider becoming one of our donors. Any amount helps, and because we're a nonprofit, all of it goes to support our mission: To produce thoughtful, factual coverage of religion that helps you better understand the world. Thank you for reading and supporting RNS.
